Sana’a University Hosts Symposium on the Impact of War on Gaza and Regional Economic Repercussions

The Economic and Financial Studies and Research Center (EFSRC) at Sana’a University organized an academic symposium today titled “The Impact of the War against Gaza on the Palestinian Economy and the Repercussions of Regional Developments on the Region’s Economy.”
The event is part of the “Academics Toward Jerusalem” lecture series, which aims to analyze economic and strategic issues related to regional dynamics.
In the opening session, the Rector of Sana’a University, Prof. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti, emphasized that such symposia reflect the University’s commitment to strengthening scientific research, analyzing regional economic developments, and studying the economic consequences of the war against Gaza on Palestine.
Prof. Al-Bukhaiti highlighted the importance of regularly holding academic forums and improving the quality of research papers in order to enhance the University’s standing in regional and international rankings and to align with global academic standards. He also urged faculty deans and directors of research centers to further promote research activities and improve their outcomes.
The symposium was moderated by the Rector’s Assistant for Centers Affairs, Prof. Zaid Al-Warith, who expressed appreciation for the efforts of the University’s research centers. On behalf of the University Rector, he extended thanks to the directors and staff of the centers who recently contributed to organizing academic and research events, including:
1. The Political and Strategic Studies Center (PSSC) – two symposia
2. The Inclusive Development Research Center (IDRC) – one symposium
3. The Economic and Financial Studies and Research Center (EFSRC)– one symposium
He also called on the remaining research centers to expedite the submission of proposed research paper topics, noting the University Rector’s directive that each center and faculty hold a symposium featuring strong, discipline-relevant scientific papers.
The symposium was attended by the Center’s Director, Prof. Manaf Al-Dailami, along with a number of academics, faculty deans, and research scholars. The event featured three research papers addressing key economic and strategic dimensions.
Prof. Mohammed Al-Makradi presented the first paper, which examined the impact of the war against Gaza on Palestine’s macroeconomic indicators, including GDP, employment, price levels, and the financial sector.
The second paper, presented by Prof. Mohammed Al-Rafiq, discussed recent strategic shifts in the region and their repercussions on regional economies.
The third paper, delivered by Prof. Abdullah Al-Adhi, analyzed the political and economic effects of the conflict on the region’s internal structure and its future repercussions.
The symposium concluded with academic discussions underscoring the importance of developing research analytical tools and strengthening the University’s role in providing scientific insights to support decision-makers.
