Sana’a University President: Advancing Steadily Toward International Accreditation of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences

Sana’a – Sunday, November 23, 2025 (Jumada Al-Thani 2, 1447 Hijri)
Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, Rector of Sana’a University, chaired a meeting today at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The meeting was attended by Prof. Abdulhafedh Thawaba, Vice Rector for Hospital Affairs; the two Vice Deans of the Faculty, Prof. Anwar Al-Mughalles and Prof. Adel Al-Ghayli; national quality expert Prof. Saleh Bahaj; and the heads of technical committees. The meeting was dedicated to reviewing the latest developments related to fulfilling the requirements of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) international accreditation.
During the meeting, the technical committees and academic departments presented comprehensive reports outlining the progress achieved in educational infrastructure, technical services, and laboratory preparations.
In his remarks, the University Rector affirmed that international accreditation is not merely a procedural objective but a strategic milestone that reflects the standing of Sana’a University and its commitment to global medical education standards. He stressed that the university leadership will provide all necessary support and resources to ensure the success of this national and institutional priority.
Prof. Al-Bukhaiti emphasized the need to accelerate the completion of outstanding requirements, noting that time is a critical component of accreditation standards. He underscored the importance of finalizing all documents and reports within the specified timeframe and ensuring that remaining tasks are completed with the highest levels of quality, precision, and efficiency.
The Rector praised the efforts of the working teams at the Faculty, stating:
“What the Faculty of Medicine has accomplished in recent months is an exemplary model of disciplined and responsible academic work. The progress made in laboratory preparation, equipment, and infrastructure requirements is commendable. These achievements elevate the university’s reputation and confirm that its cadre is capable of competing globally.”
Speaking on the future of the Faculty, he added:
“The Faculty of Medicine stands at the forefront of the priorities of the university leadership, the government, and the state. It represents Yemen in regional and international medical forums, and its graduates today serve in leading universities and hospitals worldwide. This compels us to continue our efforts until we achieve full international accreditation.”
At the close of the meeting, the Rector instructed that progress rates be monitored closely and periodic reports submitted to ensure full adherence to the approved plan. He reaffirmed that the university is moving steadily toward securing international accreditation for the Faculty of Medicine—an achievement of national and strategic significance.
