Graduate Studies Council Approves a Package of Academic Decisions

The Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council at Sana’a University held its sixth regular meeting for the 2025/2026 academic year (1447 AH) on Monday. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Huda Ali Al-Emad, Assistant Vice Rector of the University for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, with the participation of vice deans of faculties and representatives of scientific and research centers.
During the meeting, the Council discussed a number of academic and administrative issues, including the approval of a level improvement program at the Faculty of Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering. It also approved the tracks of graduate programs at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Department of Psychology.
The Council clarified the mechanism governing free-seat allocations in all agreements, stipulating that they shall cover tuition fees only and shall not include admission application, supervision, or thesis defense fees. This applies to the preliminary coursework programs, as well as master’s and doctoral programs.
In addition, the Council approved the executive mechanism for MD doctoral students, endorsed the submission of names of students who had discontinued their studies, discussed students’ outstanding financial obligations to the University, and approved the list of students admitted to free seats at community colleges in accordance with the committee’s decision.
The Council also approved the titles of 13 doctoral dissertations and 33 master’s theses, as well as the viva voce results of 19 master’s theses and seven doctoral dissertations across various faculties and centers. It further approved amendments to the titles of a PhD. dissertation and a master’s thesis.
Moreover, the Council endorsed the results of students in several programs, including PG diploma, level improvement, and master’s preliminary programs. It also approved a number of internal scholarships for teaching assistants and lecturers to pursue master’s and doctoral degrees.
The meeting had commenced with a review and approval of the minutes of the previous session.
