Sana’a University Intensifies Discussions on Speeding Up Fulfillment Requirements of International Accreditation for Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences

Chaired by Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, Rector of Sana’a University, an extended meeting was held today at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences to monitor progress toward fulfilling the requirements for international academic accreditation (WFME). The meeting was attended by Prof. Abdulhafedh Thawaba, the Rector’s Assistant for Medical Faculties and Hospital Affairs; Prof. Mohammed Mohammed Al-Shahari, Dean of the Faculty; as well as several academic and administrative leaders and national quality experts.
Participants reviewed a comprehensive report outlining the current level of compliance with international accreditation standards, highlighting key strengths and identifying practical mechanisms to accelerate completion in line with clearly defined timelines. National quality expert Prof. Saleh Bahaj stressed the need for integrated institutional efforts and the reinforcement of a culture of quality to ensure the successful completion of the accreditation process.
Prof. Al-Bukhaiti reaffirmed the University’s unfailing commitment to prioritizing international academic accreditation and mobilizing all available resources to support this effort, noting its direct impact on improving the quality of medical education, advancing the University’s academic ranking, and strengthening its position at both the local and regional levels.
For his part, Prof. Al-Shahari, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, emphasized the Faculty’s determination to move steadily toward achieving WFME accreditation, describing it as a major national and academic achievement. He also expressed appreciation for the Rector’s direct support in speeding up progress and addressing challenges.
The meeting also featured detailed reviews by Mr. Iskandar Al-Maqaleh, the General Secretary of the University, and Mr. Marwan Al-Mekhlafi, the Secretary of the Faculty, on recent administrative reforms, service enhancements, technical upgrades, and infrastructure developments designed to create a comprehensive educational environment conducive to meeting international accreditation standards.
The meeting concluded with a call to further unify efforts and strengthen coordination between academic and administrative bodies to ensure the timely completion of all accreditation requirements and to fulfill national aspirations for excellence in medical education.
