Sana’a University Council Holds 9th Regular Meeting, Approves a Package of Academic and Administrative Decisions

Sana’a – February 28, 2026 (Ramadan 11, 1447 Hijri)
The Sana’a University Council held today its ninth regular meeting for the academic year 1447 Hijri / 2025–2026, chaired by Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, Sana’a University Rector, and attended by the Vice Rectors, the Rector’s Assistants and Deans of faculties. The meeting took place at the University Presidency in the Capital Secretariat (Sana’a).
At the outset of the meeting, the Rector briefed the Council on the university’s participation in the expanded forum on directing scientific research toward the localization of industries. The event was organized by the Ministry of Economy, Industry, and Investment in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research, represented by the General Authority for Science, Research, Technology, and Innovation, and in partnership with the Federation of Yemen Chambers of Commerce and Industry. He emphasized the importance of aligning scientific research with development priorities and strengthening partnerships with both the public and private sectors.
The Rector also reviewed the evaluation reports submitted by the Academic Development and Quality Assurance Center concerning infrastructure, official websites, and graduate programs, as part of the university’s ongoing efforts to enhance institutional performance and reinforce quality and academic accreditation standards.
During its session, the Council approved the tenure, academic status settlements, and promotions of (22) faculty members in accordance with the executive regulations governing the Yemeni Universities Law. It also approved contracting two faculty members at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences on an hourly basis.
In the same context, the Council assigned the Information Systems Administration to implement the necessary upgrades to the electronic examination system in line with international standards, ensuring its compatibility with the needs of students with special needs.
The Council further approved the results of awarding PhD degrees to (11) researchers and master’s degrees to (29) researchers, in addition to approving the results of (6) students in non-specialist diploma programs, grade improvement programs, and Islamic Sharia programs.
The Council discussed several additional items listed on its agenda and took the appropriate decisions accordingly. At the beginning of the meeting, it reviewed and approved the minutes of its previous session.
In concluding the meeting, the Council reaffirmed its commitment to continuing the development of academic and administrative performance in a manner that strengthens the university’s standing and its leading role in serving society and national development.
