Public MA Viva-Voice Examination of Ms. Lina Khalid Ameen Mukred

The Public Viva-Voice Examination for the MA Thesis hereto entitled: “Self-assertion and its relationship to parental treatment methods among secondary school students in Alamana, Sana’a”, submitted by Ms. Lina Khalid Ameen Mukred Department of Educational Psychology (Psychological and Edcational Guidance), Faculty of Education –Sana’a, Faculty of Education –Sana’a, was held on Wednesday, 27/08/1446 Hijri corresponding to 26/02/2025. The Viva-Voice Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Post-Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:

The study aimed at:-
- clarifying the clarifying the relationship between self-assertion and its relationship to parental treatment methods among secondary school students in the capital, Sana’a.
- revealing the differences in the level of self-affirmation and parental treatment styles according to the gender variable and the predictive ability of parental treatment styles with self-affirmation.
The study showed a number of results as: There is no correlation between self-assertion and parental treatment styles (father), and there is a weak inverse correlation between self-assertion and parental treatment styles (mother), and the students enjoy an above-average level in self-assertion with statistically significant differences in self-assertion in favor of males. The results also showed that the parental treatment styles of the mother and father came in order of positive styles followed by negative styles. While the results showed statistically significant difference in the father’s parental treatment styles in favor of females, and the weak predictive ability of parental treatment styles with self-affirmation.
The study recommended some recommendations as: Focus on the importance of self-assertion among high school students, and build guidance programs to develop self-assertion, creating a family environment that enhances self-assertion
A number of academics, the department head, some researchers, students, interested people, and a number of the candidates’ colleagues and family members attended the viva.
The MA Thesis has been examined and is recommended by the Viva-Voice Committee for acceptance and approval. The Candidate was recommended to be awarded the degree of Educational Psychology majoring in (Psychological Guidance), with an overall grade of Excellent (95%).
