Sana’a University Launches “University Cup” Tournaments for Volleyball and Table Tennis

Sana’a University officially kicked off its annual “University Cup” tournaments for volleyball and table tennis today. The events, organized by the General Administration of Student Activities under the auspices of the University Rector’s Office and direct supervision of the Vice Rector’s Office for Student Affairs, coincide with the Prophet’s Birthday celebrations (1447 AH). The tournaments will run from August 30th to September 2nd, 2025.
Teams from various university faculties are competing in the two annual tournaments. Volleyball matches are being held at the Faculty of Commerce and Economics yard, while the table tennis (male students) competitions take place in the sports hall of the Faculty of Languages.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several key university figures, including Prof. Ibrahim Al-Mutaa, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs; Prof. Mohammed Ali Shukri, Vice Rector for Student Affairs; and Mr. Abdulqader Al-Ghorbani, General Director of Student and Youth Activities. The attendees included Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Radaei, Assistant General Director of Student Activities; Mr. Sami Al-Zeyadi, Director of Sports and Scouting Activities; and youth leaders from the different faculties.
The event’s opening day featured two exciting volleyball matches. In the first match, the team of the Faculty of Physical Education defeated the team of the Faculty of Petroleum and Minerals with a score of 2-0. In the second match, the Faculty of Agriculture team secured a 2-0 victory over the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
For the table tennis tournament, the opening day focused on preliminary qualifiers. These matches featured intense competition to determine which players would advance to the final stage, scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday.
