Ms. Samira Saeed Ali Al-Hemyari was awarded a PhD degree in business administration for her dissertation titled “The Role of Transformational Leadership in Achieving Organizational Excellence Through Knowledge Management: A Field Study in Private Yemeni Universities in the Capital Secretariat (Sana’a),” which was submitted to the Center of Business Administration for Graduate Studies- Sana’a University. The PhD dissertation defense was held on Sunday, August 24, 2025, corresponding to 1 Rabi’ al-Awwal 1447 Hijri.
The PhD Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Post-Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following members:

The dissertation aimed to determine the role of transformational leadership in achieving organizational excellence through knowledge management in private Yemeni universities in the Capital Secretariat (Sana’a).
The dissertation reached several key conclusions:
- There is a relatively high level of attention paid to transformational leadership by the leaders of private Yemeni universities in Sana’a, with all its dimensions except for the ideal influence dimension, which received a high practice score.
- There is a relatively high level of organizational excellence achieved in all its dimensions, with the exception of the organizational structure excellence dimension, which was high.
- There is a relatively high level of attention paid to the application of knowledge management in all its dimensions, with the exception of the knowledge storage dimension, which received a high practice score.
- There is a statistically significant role for transformational leadership in its dimensions (ideal influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation, individual consideration) in knowledge management in the private Yemeni universities at the Capital Secretariat (Sana’a).
- There is a positive role for transformational leadership in achieving organizational excellence in the universities under study.
- There is a statistically significant role for knowledge management in achieving organizational excellence in the universities under study.
- There is a partial mediating effect of knowledge management between transformational leadership and organizational excellence in the universities under study.
The dissertation concluded with several recommendations, the most important of which are: increasing attention to the practices of transformational leadership behaviors in all their dimensions in private Yemeni universities and promoting more practices for knowledge management in its various dimensions, due to their positive and effective impact on achieving organizational excellence.
The PhD dissertation was examined and recommended by the Viva-Voce Committee for acceptance and approval. The PhD defense was attended by a number of academics, researchers, interested students, the candidate’s colleagues, and family members.
