Sana’a University Rector Launches Advanced CBCT Imaging System at Faculty of Dentistry

Sana’a University Rector, Prof. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti, inaugurated today the operation of a new Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) imaging system at the Faculty of Dentistry, as part of the university’s ongoing efforts to modernize its medical and educational infrastructure and introduce advanced technologies in diagnosis, treatment, and academic training.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Tax and Customs Authority, Dr. Ibrahim Mahdi; the Rector’s Assistant for Medical Faculties and Hospitals Affairs, Dr. Abdulhafedh Thawaba; the University Secretary-General, Mr. Iskandar Al-Maqaleh; the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Prof. Rami Ishaq; in addition to a number of academic leaders, faculty members, researchers, and postgraduate students.
During the event, Prof. Al-Bukhaiti affirmed that the Faculty of Dentistry continues to strengthen its distinguished academic and scientific standing through its educational programs, medical services, and research contributions, which have enhanced its position among the university’s medical faculties. He noted that the university is continuously working to upgrade laboratories and medical facilities in line with global developments in medical education.
Prof. Al-Bukhaiti explained that the new device represents a qualitative addition to the faculty due to its advanced capabilities in precise diagnosis and treatment planning, as well as its role in supporting scientific research and enhancing the practical and clinical training of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
He further emphasized that the university views the development of its medical faculties as an investment in building national expertise and preparing specialized professionals capable of serving society and improving healthcare services. He also commended the efforts of the faculty administration, teaching staff, and technical and administrative personnel in advancing academic and medical performance.
In turn, Dr. Ibrahim Mahdi expressed his pleasure at participating in the inauguration of the advanced device, praising the scientific progress achieved by Sana’a University and its distinguished academic and research presence at both local and international levels.
Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Prof. Rami Ishaq, explained that the CBCT system is among the most advanced diagnostic imaging technologies currently used worldwide in dentistry. He noted that the device provides highly accurate three-dimensional images that significantly enhance the diagnosis of oral, dental, and maxillofacial conditions.
He added that the system will contribute to improving educational and clinical services within the faculty, particularly in the fields of dental implants, orthodontics, maxillofacial surgery, and endodontics, while also supporting scientific research and postgraduate programs in line with the latest developments in advanced medical and academic institutions.
