Sana’a University Rector Launches Annual Inter-Faculty Volleyball Tournament

Sana’a University Rector, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, officially inaugurated the annual Inter-Faculty Volleyball Tournament today. Organized by the General Administration of Student Activities and Youth Care under the supervision of the Vice Rector’s Office for Student Affairs, the championship reflects the university’s commitment to advancing sports activities, promoting physical fitness, and nurturing student talent.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Rector Al-Bukhaiti highlighted that athletic activities serve as a cornerstone in building well-rounded university graduates. He noted that sports foster essential values such as discipline, teamwork, leadership, and fair play while promoting physical and mental well-being. He reaffirmed the university administration’s dedication to backing all athletic, cultural, and scientific activities by providing an encouraging campus environment that uncovers and nurtures promising athletic talent. He added that sports programs are an integral part of Sana’a University’s broader educational mission, emphasizing that investing in youth potential is vital for developing qualified graduates ready to serve society.
The opening ceremony was attended by Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Mohammed Ali Shukri, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Economics Dr. Hani Moghales, Director General of Student Activities and Youth Care Mr. Abdulqader Al-Ghurbani, Deputy Director General Mr. Mohammed Al-Rada’i, and Director of Sports and Scouting Activities Mr. Sami Al-Ziyadi, alongside academic department heads, administrative staff, and an enthusiastic student crowd.
The tournament kicked off with an intense opening match between the Faculty of Sharia & Law and the Faculty of Pharmacy. The Faculty of Sharia & Law secured a clean 2–0 victory in straight sets, earning their first three points in the championship standings. This tournament is part of Sana’a University’s comprehensive extra-curricular activities program. It aimed at expanding student participation in non-academic pursuits, promoting healthy competition, and embedding a vibrant sports culture across the campus community.
