Sana’a University Launches 1st International Conference on Engineering and Technology This December

Sana’a University has officially announced the launch of its First International Conference on Engineering and Technology (2026), to be organized and hosted by the Faculty of Engineering from 1–2 December 2026, with wide participation from researchers and experts from within Yemen and abroad.
The announcement was made during an official ceremony at the Faculty of Engineering, where Prof. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti, Rector of Sana’a University, described the conference as a strategic leap towards reinforcing the university’s role in advanced scientific research and aligning with the rapidly evolving global transformations in engineering technologies and intelligent systems.
He noted that the conference comes amid rapid technological advancements worldwide that are reshaping engineering disciplines, based on innovation, sustainability, and smart systems. Through this event, the university seeks to establish an interactive scientific platform that brings specialists together to exchange expertise and anticipate future technological trends.
Prof. Al-Bukhaiti further emphasized that the Faculty of Engineering has the academic capacity and specialized expertise required to organize international events of this scale, adding that preparations—both scientific and organizational—are progressing efficiently to ensure the conference meets international standards.
He also highlighted that the conference aims to broaden collaboration with universities and research centers, strengthen partnerships with technology-related bodies, and support the transformation of research outcomes into practical, development-oriented applications. He underscored the importance of engaging Yemeni scholars abroad and leveraging their scientific contributions.
The conference organizers, led by Prof. Adel Rawei’, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Prof. Ahmed Al-Shalabi, Dean of the Faculty of Computer and Information Technology, outlined key preparations underway, including the launch of an online platform for receiving scientific papers, defining conference themes, and demonstrating participation procedures.
They noted that the conference will feature several specialized tracks, such as artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, modern communication technologies, cybersecurity, the Internet of Things, as well as smart cities and emerging technologies, all overseen by expert reviewers in line with international academic standards.
In turn, Prof. Sharaf Al-Homdi, Head of the Technical Program Committee, stated that the conference aims to offer innovative solutions to current challenges, strengthen the link between research and practical application, and provide opportunities for publication in international scientific platforms, as well as foster global research collaboration.
He added that the event’s scientific program prioritizes innovation in sustainability, renewable energy, and environmentally friendly technologies, keeping pace with global trends in smart city development and resource efficiency.
Prof. Al-Homdi also addressed the roles of the scientific and organizing committees in overseeing the peer-review process and quality assurance of research outputs in accordance with internationally recognized academic standards.
In addition, Dr. Ammar Al-Zahari, Head of the IEEE Xplore Branch in Yemen, reviewed the branch’s development and its role in supporting scientific conferences in the fields of technology and intelligent systems across Yemen.
The launch ceremony was attended by Dr. Ali Naji Nosari, CEO of TeleYemen; Prof. Zaid Al-Wareeth, Rector’s Assistant for Center Affairs; Mr. Adel Al-Hababi, Rector’s Assistant for Media Affairs; along with heads and members of the scientific and preparatory committees, and a select group of academics, researchers, and engineering students.gallery ids=”50109,50107,50108,50111,50112,50113″]
