Sana’a University Launches 37th Graduate Research Conference with 740 Medical Students Participating

The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sana’a University today inaugurated its 37th Graduate Research Conference. The academic event is dedicated to discussing the graduation research projects of the 37th batch of the human medicine program, reflecting the culmination of the students’ years of academic study, clinical training, and scientific research.
The six-day conference features the discussion of 56 peer-reviewed research papers prepared by 740 male and female students. These studies address critical health and medical issues directly relevant to the current healthcare landscape and community needs, conducted under the specialized supervision of the faculty’s academic staff and medical consultants.
During the opening ceremony, Mr. Hasan Al-Saadi, Minister of Education and Scientific Research, emphasized the vital role of scientific research in supporting the health sector. He noted that academic studies should be directed toward addressing pressing health challenges, adding that university outputs must provide practical solutions to community issues. The Minister praised the high scholarly caliber of the presented research and projects, noting that the students’ achievements reflect the combined dedication of the faculty, academic staff, and families throughout the years of study.
For his part, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, Rector of Sana’a University, stated that the conference embodies the university’s ongoing commitment to its scientific and research mission. He highlighted the institution’s capability to graduate qualified professionals equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to serve society and elevate medical practice. The Rector added that the university continues to upgrade its educational and research infrastructure, including the recent modernization of laboratories and academic facilities within the Faculty of Medicine, to enhance the quality of medical education and practical training.
Furthermore, Prof. Mohammed Al-Shahari, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, affirmed that the research papers discussed during the conference represent an outstanding academic output for the 37th batch. He noted that the projects cover diverse medical and health topics linked to community needs, seeking to provide evidence-based, scientific solutions.
In addition, Dr. Adel Al-Emad, Head of the Community Medicine Department, pointed out that the current batch is one of the largest the faculty has enrolled since its establishment, initially welcoming approximately 1,200 students, with 740 successfully reaching graduation and completing their research projects.
Following the opening remarks, the Minister of Education and the University Rector inaugurated the graduation poster and research project exhibition, reviewing samples of the scientific studies and their findings. The event concluded with the honoring of the Minister, the Rector, several university officials, academics, directors of teaching hospitals, and heads of the faculty’s scientific departments.
