Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, Rector of Sana’a University, chaired today the fourth regular meeting of the Graduate Studies Council for the 1447 AH academic year. The meeting was held at the Office of Graduate Studies in the presence of Prof. Huda Al-Emad, Vice Rector’s Assistant for Graduate Studies, members of the Council, and several department directors.
At the outset, Prof. Al-Bukhaiti welcomed the attendees and praised the efforts of the Graduate Studies Office staff in advancing both administrative and academic performance. He acknowledged the tangible achievements made in supporting educational and research processes across the university.
The University Rector underscored the importance of activating quality assurance committees and conducting thorough reviews of all academic and administrative matters at faculties and research centers prior to submission to the Graduate Studies Council and the University Council. This, he stressed, is essential for ensuring procedural accuracy and promoting transparency and discipline in all operations.
Prof. Al-Bukhaiti also highlighted the need for fostering a spirit of teamwork, adherence to university regulations, and providing necessary support to postgraduate students and researchers. These steps, he noted, are critical to enhancing the quality of graduate programs and scientific research at the university.
Furthermore, he called for the activation of academic monitoring through the university’s “SAR” electronic system at all stages of postgraduate studies. He also proposed holding training and capacity-building workshops for deputies and department heads to familiarize them with the system and improve ongoing oversight and performance monitoring.
During the session, the University Rector listened to feedback and proposals presented by Council members and department heads. He affirmed the administration’s commitment to considering all constructive suggestions aimed at improving service quality and institutional performance.
Concluding the meeting, Prof. Al-Bukhaiti reiterated his commitment to developing postgraduate programs and research efforts while ensuring a supportive academic environment for scholars. He emphasized the university’s aspiration to enhance its standing at local, regional, and international levels.
The Council reviewed several items on its agenda and adopted appropriate decisions aimed at improving academic and administrative performance within the university’s graduate studies framework. The meeting is scheduled to continue on Tuesday.
