Sana’a University Commemorates Prophet’s Birthday at Faculty of Commerce and Economics, Welcomes Freshers, and Honors Topper Students

Sana’a University today launched its cultural program marking the anniversary of the Prophet Mohammed’s Birthday (Mawlid) for the 1448 AH year with a ceremonial event organized by the Faculty of Commerce and Economics. The event coincided with the reception of newly admitted students and the recognition of top graduates and outstanding students. It was attended by the Minister of Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Hasan Al-Saadi; the Rector of Sana’a University, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti; the university’s vice rectors and assistants; faculty deans; academic staff members; representatives of the University Student Forum; and a large gathering of students.
Speakers at the event emphasized the importance of drawing inspiration from the values and teachings of the Prophet Mohammed in fostering personal development, strengthening awareness, promoting responsibility, and encouraging academic excellence. They noted that these values contribute to preparing qualified graduates capable of serving society and supporting national development.
In his address, the Minister of Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Hasan Al-Saadi, highlighted the significance of commemorating the Prophet’s Birthday as an occasion to reflect on the noble values and principles exemplified by the Prophet Mohammed and to encourage following his exemplary conduct in all aspects of life.
The Rector of Sana’a University, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, stated that the university is committed to integrating its academic mission with cultural and student-focused programs in order to foster students’ personal development, expand their knowledge and skills, and provide a university environment that encourages learning, creativity, and excellence. He added that the university places great importance on organizing activities that enrich the student experience and strengthen engagement between students and their academic institution, in line with the role of universities in preparing graduates equipped with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to serve society.
The Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Economics, Dr. Hani Moghales, reaffirmed the faculty’s commitment to providing a supportive learning environment for students. Welcoming the newly admitted students, he noted that the faculty is dedicated to helping them integrate into university life, become familiar with its academic programs and educational services, and build a strong foundation for their academic journey.
The program also featured a speech delivered on behalf of the University Student Forum (USF) by student Mohammed Al-Ashwal, as well as a poem entitled “The Prophetic Memory Approaches with Glad Tidings” presented by the Cultural Advisor to the University Rector, Mr. Abdulsalam Al-Mutamayiz, in addition to a variety of cultural and artistic performances.
During the event, the faculty honored top graduates and high-achieving students across its various departments and academic programs in recognition of their outstanding academic performance and to encourage them to continue their pursuit of excellence. The faculty also formally welcomed the new students and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting them throughout their university studies.
The event forms part of Sana’a University’s cultural program commemorating the Prophet’s Birthday for 1448 AH, which includes a series of academic, cultural, and student activities across the university’s faculties. The program reflects the university’s commitment to fostering a vibrant campus environment, promoting academic excellence, developing students’ capabilities, and fulfilling its mission in education, scientific research, and community service.
