PhD Degree Awarded to Ms. Sayyidah Ahmed Hashem in Arabic Language Curriculum and Teaching Methods

Ms. Sayyidah Ahmed Hashem Al-Shehari was awarded a PhD degree in Arabic Language Curriculum and Teaching Methods for her dissertation titled: The Effectiveness of a Program Based on Enrichment Activities in Developing Functional and Creative Writing Skills among Students in the Final Stage of Basic Education in the Republic of Yemen, which was submitted to the Department of Arabic Language Curriculum and Teaching Methods, Faculty of Education–Sana’a University. The dissertation defense was held on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
The PhD Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:

The dissertation aimed to:
Develop a list of functional writing skills for students in the final stage of basic education in the Republic of Yemen.
Develop a list of creative writing skills for the same group of students.
The study yielded several key findings summarized as follows:
There were statistically significant differences at the 0.05 significance level between the mean scores of the experimental and control groups in the post-application of the functional written expression skills test, attributable to the effectiveness of the enrichment activities–based program in favor of the experimental group.
In light of these findings, the researcher recommended the following:
Employing enrichment activities–based programs in teaching Arabic language branches and skills, as well as in teaching other school subjects, due to their positive impact on enhancing academic achievement and developing students’ creative thinking skills across different educational stages.
The dissertation defense was attended by a number of academics, researchers, and specialists, students, colleagues, and the researcher’s family.
