Sana’a University Spearheads Scientific Preparations for the Inauguration of 1st Yemeni Medicinal Honey Conference

The Rector of Sana’a University, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, chaired an expanded meeting today, Sunday, April 19, 2026, to finalize arrangements for the upcoming Yemeni Medicinal Honey Scientific Conference. The session brought together the conference’s preparatory committee along with the deans of the university’s Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Agriculture, and Faculty of Science to coordinate the final logistical and academic frameworks for what is expected to be a landmark scientific event.
During the meeting, Prof. Al-Bukhaiti emphasized that the university is prioritizing this conference as part of its national and scientific responsibility to bridge rigorous academic research with the optimal utilization of Yemen’s natural resources. He noted that the university’s role as the primary academic sponsor underscores its position as a leading scientific authority capable of transforming laboratory research into projects with significant economic and medicinal value.
The Rector directed all participating committees and stakeholders to intensify their efforts, confirming that all technical and logistical preparations are nearing completion to ensure the event’s success. He stressed the importance of the conference producing actionable recommendations that serve Yemen’s pharmaceutical and agricultural production sectors, thereby bolstering the national economy.
Providing a strategic overview, the Conference Secretary General, Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Olofi, detailed the strategic importance of the event and the added value provided by official academic sponsors. In addition, the Head of the Scientific Committee, Dr. Hassan Ibrahim, reviewed the progress of research preparations, noting that participating studies have undergone rigorous screening to meet international scientific standards. Dr. Mueen Al-Mutawakel, Head of the Organizing Committee, further outlined the distribution of tasks designed to ensure seamless execution in accordance with global benchmarks.
The meeting also reviewed coordination memoranda with the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research, resulting in the approval of several key operational steps:
• Establishing Sana’a University’s status as the primary incubator and leading academic sponsor of the conference, while activating the role of specialized faculties in drafting the core research themes.
• Approving the official announcement plan and proposed dates for scientific workshops and the accompanying specialized exhibition, based on a proposal submitted by preparatory committee member Dr. Qais Yousef Abdullah.
This initiative is part of a broader scientific movement at Sana’a University aimed at strengthening partnerships between academic institutions and productive sectors. The Yemeni Medicinal Honey Scientific Conference seeks to highlight the therapeutic value of local products and open new horizons for scientific research in the medical and agricultural fields.
The session was attended by prominent academics and researchers, including Dr. Mohammed Saleh Qusaila, Dean of the Faculty of Science; Dr. Mohammed Abbas Hamiduddin, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; and Dr. Hisham Al-Jabali, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, alongside representatives from various relevant authorities.
