Program Aims

  1. Equipping students with all what they need to learn and teach French language, linguistics, literature, translation, and culture.
  2. Achieving excellence both qualitatively and quantitatively in learning and teaching French, and providing distinguished services to the community in areas of communication, translation, and the teaching of French.
  3. Providing a scholarly academic environment that helps French language students develop and stimulate communication skills and creative thinking to address challenges effectively.
  4. Facilitating students’ acquisition and utilization of language and translation skills between French and Arabic, whenever possible.
  5. Developing academic, ethical and professional values and attitudes in line with the requirements of society and the labor market. 
  6. Empowering students with intellectual and practical skills necessary for proficient use of the French language in real-world contexts.

Program Mission

To produce graduates who are culturally aware and possess exceptional linguistic skills, enabling them to engage meaningfully with diverse cultures across the globe.

Graduate Attributes:

A graduate holding a Bachelor’s Degree in French Language and Literature from the Faculty of Languages should demonstrate the following attributes:
  1. Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking French.
  2. Able to differentiate between fundamental concepts in language, literature, and translation studies.
  3. Able to use all four French language skills across diverse professional contexts.
  4. Capable of analyzing and critiquing texts in a systematic and professional manner.
  5. Able to communicate skillfully in both written and verbal forms.
  6. Able to translate various types of texts (political, scientific, economic, etc.) accurately, faithfully, and conscientiously.
  7. Proficient in producing innovative and scholarly research papers, adhering to the principles of academic honesty and research integrity.
  8. Capable to apply and employ specialized knowledge in professional practice within relevant fields.
  9. Proficient in using computers and technological applications to remain abreast of modern scientific and technical developments in language-related fields and applications.
  10. Able to engage positively with diverse cultures while upholding religious, cultural, and social values.
  11. Ready to assume ethical, academic, and professional responsibilities within their area of specialization.
